Hey friend... yes you, who have been living in survival mode...
I see you.
You’ve been showing up day after day, tired, stretched thin, running on empty, and still pouring out more than you ever thought you had. I know you're holding it all together… the home, the kids, the meals, the laundry, the schedules, the emotions of everyone around you.
But I have one question for you...
When was the last time you truly looked after you?
I’m not talking about squeezing in a quick shower while someone knocks on the bathroom door or brushing your hair in the car mirror on the school run. I’m talking about real care. The kind that fills your cup, even just a little. The kind that says, I am important too.
So here’s what I want you to do...
Take action, girl. Get up.
Go grab a clean towel and run the hot shower you’ve been putting off, not because you don’t care, but because everything else always comes first. Not today. Today, you come first. For just 20 minutes, you are off-duty. The dishes can wait. The laundry can ooze over the basket for one more hour. The crumbs and clutter and chaos? Let it be!
This moment is yours.
Take a deep breath and exhale the pressure.
Now go trim those toenails, not for vanity, but because you deserve to feel clean and cared for, even in the places no one else sees. Brush your hair. Run your fingers through it slowly. You’re allowed to be gentle with yourself. Step into that hot shower, if you’re anything like me, crank it all the way up. Let the water pour over your body. Close your eyes. Breathe again. Not shallow breaths, real ones. This is your time.
Scrub your arms and legs. Wash your back properly (yes, finally). Let the soap and steam rinse away more than just dirt, let it rinse away the overwhelm that’s been sitting heavy on your shoulders.
Shave those armpits and legs. Not because you "should," but because you've been neglecting you.
Scrub your hands and feet. Use that foot stone. Wash your face, twice, because yesterday’s makeup is still there, I know. Brush your teeth, even if it’s in the shower. We’re not here for perfection...
Pluck your brows, dermaplane, or use your electric trimmer, whatever feels right. I know you’ve been ignoring yourself, because you have been too busy pouring into everyone else. But today, look in the mirror... take a moment and see yourself...
You are still there.
And you are worth caring for.
When you're done, put on your softest, comfiest clothes.
Moisturise your skin.
Tidy up the bathroom, if you feel like it. Make your bed.
But only if it feels like a gentle act of love, not another task to tick off.
And now?
Breathe... Again...
Is the house still a mess? Probably.
Are the beds still unmade? Very likely.
Is the floor still unswept? Let’s be honest… yes.
But you? You are no longer a mess.
You are refreshed.
You’ve reminded yourself that you matter. That your care is not optional. That your needs aren’t selfish.
This moment was yours. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to shift from survival to strength.
Now you can start again, not from overwhelm, but from peace.
Not with pressure, but with purpose.
Not in chaos, but in divine structure.
Prayer for today...
Father,
I’m tired, but I’m here.
Thank You for seeing me when I feel invisible.
Help me to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember that I matter too.
Teach me to care for myself without guilt, to rest without shame, and to refill what’s been poured out.
Remind me that I am not just needed—I am loved.
Renew my strength, restore my peace, and refresh my soul.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Remember my friend...
You matter.
You are seen.
You are not forgotten.
And you are allowed to be cared for, too.
From my heart to yours,
Carla
